Article: How we work

People often ask us about our model, what immersive actually does and why it is different from a recruitment agency. So in this blog, we explore a bit about what we do, why we do what we do and what the impact on your organisation could be.

We know that hiring amazing people for your organisation, at scale is tough.

It's even more difficult when you have limited capacity, gaps in your team or hiring for roles you don’t understand. This can often result in a reliance on poor value, transactional recruitment agencies.

We recently ran a survey that told us that organisations find it a real challenge when using a recruitment agency because:

  • The price is too high? 26%

  • The quality of candidates is poor? 42%

  • Agencies don’t understand company culture? 27%

So, that’s where we come in.

Back in 2020, we saw that high-growth companies needed a more flexible, efficient way to grow their teams at scale. We developed a model where recruiters (talent partners), embed themselves fully into an organisation to embrace their brand and culture. (We like to believe we ‘immerse’ ourselves rather than embed.)

We provide a model where companies can grow via a transparent, predictable subscription service rather than paying unexpected agency fees based on a percentage of salary (good for the agency, not good for our clients).

Our model provides in-house talent teams that can scale resources up or down on demand - without impacting our clients' headcount. Our teams are dedicated to our clients, helping to craft talent strategy, set hiring roadmaps and build the talent infrastructure needed to be successful.

All the candidates we find belong to the client - unlike an agency.

So in short, we operate on an embedded model that gives our clients all the benefits of an in-house talent team but with the added flexibility, cost savings, and expertise of an external partner.

How the immersive model works in practice

There is no one size fits all.

If we look at the organisations we have worked with since we started they have all been at different stages. The smallest is a 22 people global organisation that needed 10 people quickly and was frustrated with traditional recruitment agencies. Our largest is a global household name that needed to find its own talent acquisition people to scale its own global team.

The common theme though for all our clients is that they need to be able to scale their capacity or capability globally for as long as they need us. There are no prolonged exit periods or termination payments like some, all we ask is that our clients treat us like grown-ups and tell us what they need.

Key to the success of all our client engagements is the team we put in place

When you partner with us, you get a custom-built delivery team. We select the team because they have experience with similar industries, roles and locations.

It means we can hit the ground running.

We kick off every engagement with a discovery session which can take anything from a few hours to a few days, depending on the size and complexity of the assignment. Sitting down with our clients begins the process of cultural understanding, identifying what works and what doesn’t so we can develop the workflow and KPIs that will provide a meaningful experience and outcome.

We sometimes phase our approach - making sure that everyone is on the same page beginning with a small team and ramping up over time. Equally, we have a number of ‘solo’ projects under our belt that have involved a single talent partner, typically working closely with the CEO or COO.

Getting on with the hiring

Once we have clear sight and direction of where we need to be, we get on it immediately. Experience has told us that nothing beats talking to a hiring manager, and beginning the hiring process to understand the gaps and opportunities to improve.

So whilst we do take an in-depth look at your process, there is no navel-gazing and theorising whilst we do it.

And what about results?

Since opening our doors for business we’ve partnered with multiple brands across every sector. And we’ve helped them realise average savings of 30% on their recruitment spend through more efficient ways of working that focus on them and not us. One of our current clients is averaging €3200 per hire compared with €12,800 from their agencies for identical roles.

This alone should get your attention.

And when it’s all over

We know that all good things must come to an end and so we plan for that. Our larger enterprise clients typically only needed capacity for a short period of time, whilst the smaller scale-ups typically work on a surge basis, hiring multiple roles quickly and then coming back to us at a later date.

For those in middle, so far it has gone in two directions. Either our last hire is a talent lead, employed directly by our client or we extend and take on all the hiring in place of any client talent people, a mini-RPO if you like but that is another post.

Whatever our exit, we leave all the information we have gathered, share our insight, workflows and candidate status and if we put our ATS in, our clients will take that over as well.

We never overstay our welcome.

Hopefully, that gives you an insight into what we do and how at a high-level, naturally there is lots more to share so get in touch, comment head to our contact page or book a call with CEO Martin Dangerfield here.
