Rainmaking was founded in 2007 by a small group of entrepreneurs. They came together to use their experience to build impactful businesses and in the years that followed, they founded Startupbootcamp, one of the world’s most successful accelerators, to help other founders grow.

Growing demand meant that Rainmaking needed to increase the size of its core Europen strategy team whilst introducing a candidate-centric approach to hiring.
The Challenge
Well-established in the Danish start-up world, Rainmaking has an excellent reputation for attracting people to join its global team of 200+ entrepreneurs, strategists, product experts, developers, designers and investors.
But coming out of the covid lockdown it was clear that Rainmaking needed external help to build out and expand its team in the Nordics and across Europe. The culture is to focus on candidate engagement, making sure that everyone that joins can feel part of the Rainmaking team and they continue to attract a diverse audience of candidates. Rainmaking didn’t feel that a traditional recruitment agency would be the answer.
The Solution
The initial engagement was for a ‘solo’ executive talent partner to begin mapping out the market and identifying a number of senior strategists in the UK and Denmark. This initial deployment was only intended as a stopgap whilst a longer list of requirements was agreed upon.
The immersive team deployed a principal talent partner supported by one of the talent sourcers in the team. This two-person approach allowed a ‘high-touch’ approach to candidate engagement but also allowed for some scale in outreach - allowing each member of the immersive team to focus on what they are really good at.
The immersive team quickly understood the requirements, mapped out an individual role-based workflow (e.g programme director vs. production project assistant) and began outreach, moving potential candidates into the existing Rainmaking ATS.
The Result
Delivering the project over 6 months in 2022, immersive hired 11 new members to the Rainmaking team. The focus was on identifying and hiring senior programme directors, strategy consultants and other project roles, to lead and engage with Rainmaking’s key partnerships.
What really worked for Rainmaking was the real sense of our understanding of Rainmaking’s culture. Equally important was that immersive knew they would not be there forever and having completed 10 hires, the last hire would need to be a talent lead, employed by Rainmaking.
